UCWLC Cookbook

Purchase Information

In 1974/75, the Edmonton eparchial UCWLC, collected a variety of recipes that represented many diverse Ukrainian culinary traditions.  They were sent to the Alberta Minister of Culture whose office was working on a project that was compiling a variety of recipes from a variety of ethnic groups.  The members of the UCWLC decided to put these recipes to good use and held several Lesson and Demonstration workshops using these recipes.  In 2012, HLM, Natalka Yanitski had a copy of the collected recipes and thought it would be a great idea to preserve them in a cookbook as well as adding other recipes that would include recent times and a greater number of recipe genres.  The cookbook is dedicated to the pioneer women who brought their family recipes with them and passed them along from one generation to the next.

The 480 page cookbook, features an extensive section on traditional Ukrainian recipes from Easter to Christmas to everyday meals.  Additional traditional recipes can also be found in the various recipe categories throughout the book.  Over 1000 copies of the cookbook have been sold locally, nationally and worldwide.
