About

WE’RE NOT NEW AND WE’RE PROUD OF IT

The UCWLC was established in 1944.
That’s 80 years of experience serving our communities!

Of course, the successful outreach of our organization would not be possible without our member branches. These groups of ladies are the heart and soul of what we do. Through their dedication and kindness, we have been able to share our love for our faith and culture over generations.

A welcoming place to do good work

This organization gives us the opportunity to deepen our spirituality, to discover and develop ourselves, to gain honour with respect, expand our talents, and also develop organizational activities; develop one’s interests like the way I did (through the UCWLC Museum). UCWLC helped me to develop myself, learn more about folk culture and also to pass that on to others.

We have been created almost (80) years ago. Our foundation was made from our babas a long time ago, so that’s where, I think, we’re different from all those other organizations… Of course, we talk about how we are going to fundraise and things like that, but our faith and tradition never change. Our church never changes. … our platform was made many, many years ago.

To really benefit from being a member of any kind of group and the UCWLC is one, is that you become an active participant. If you’re not active, if you’re one of the people sitting in the back corner and just watching things happen, you just don’t understand what you’re all about. Get out there, put yourself out there, get involved. That’s the way people need to know you.
